ABCs of Yoga

For the youngest age group, ages 5-8 (kindergarten to grade 2) students are introduced to the basics of yoga through fun activities designed for elementary school by students, highlighting creativity, imagination as well as relating yoga to the larger nation of Belize. Each class includes authentic yoga techniques including yoga poses, breathwork, hand gestures, and sound combined with games, activities, stories and attainable challenges for the age at hand. With a new yoga letter or two each class (corresponding with the English alphabet), literacy is enhanced while giving teachers an easy blueprint to understand and follow. Techniques such as yoga poses, hand gestures and breathing help the development of both gross and fine motor skills, self-regulation and facilitate body-mind connection.

In year one of the program, all children in this age group will receive supplemental coloring pages for each yoga letter of the alphabet (these could be to take home or to do at school).

After year one, the youngest students will receive the coloring pages (as to not repeat with the older end of this age spectrum in following years).
